Increase Your Chances of Landing Your Dream Job by taking CCIE Security Exam

Nowadays, learning the new technologies offered by Cisco, one of the leading names in the IT industry, is an easy task. The Internet makes it easy for people to learn new and in-demand knowledge. However, it takes more than having the knowledge about Cisco and security to truly prosper. If you want to really move ahead of the pack, you would want to be certified – CCIE certified that is. And if you want to get CCIE Security certification, then you would need to go through the CCIE Security exams.

CCIE Security is just one of the different tracks offered by Cisco wherein you can be certified. In order to get CCIE Security certification, you would have to take the examination offered by Cisco. The examination is divided into two – the written or theoretical part of the exam and the practical or hands-on laboratory part of the exam. Take note that in order to take the practical exam, the candidate must first pass the written exam. The two exams must be taken in order and cannot be reversed.

The written CCIE security examination, also known as the 350-018 CCIE Security, is made up of 100 multiple-choice questions. You will only be given 2 hours to finish answering. This is sometimes called the prequalification exam since this will be the basis if you can take the final hurdle, which is the CCIE Security Lab examination. When taking the written examination, you will be asked questions from a diverse list of topics which includes, but not limited to, general networking, security protocols, ciphers, hash algorithms, application protocols, security technologies, and of course, Cisco security appliances and technologies. Once you pass this exam, you will be allowed to take the CCIE security lab examination.

You only get three years to pass the Lab examination after passing the written examination and you must give the lab exam a go within 18 months after passing. The CCIE security lab examination is a grueling exam. It is a day-long exam which is purely hands-on. You will work with actual Cisco security racks and you will be simulating possible networking problems.

There is no question that the exam is difficult. As this is considered as an expert-level certification, Cisco will expect that you know almost everything about networking technologies, how it works, and how you can troubleshoot problems as they occur. However, with the right attitude, the right training, and the proper motivation, you will soon be able to get that certification you’ve always wanted by simply passing the CCIE Security examinations.
