Get Really Certified by Passing the CCIE Security Lab
Exams
In the field of Information Technology, one of the names that have withstood the test of time is Cisco. It is
one of the leading players in the industry. It is well known for its rigorous education as well as training
facilities. The CCIE or the Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert is one of the most highly sought certifications in
the field of information technology. This certification gives those in the IT field the edge they need to bag the
most competitive job positions. Because much is expected from these individuals, it is therefore no surprise that
Cisco would be looking for a certain amount of professional qualifications. You can choose from several tracks to
be certified: Voice, Routing and Security, Service Provider, Storage Networking, Wireless, and the Security track.
For those who have chosen the Security track, you would need to pass two exams. In order to make sure that only the
best qualified applicants would receive certification, all of them go through the pinnacle of CCIE Security exams:
the CCIE Security Lab Examination.
The examination given by Cisco is two-pronged: theoretical, which is the written examination, and the practical,
which is the CCIE security lab examination. You get to take the CCIE Security Lab examination once you’ve gotten
through the written examination. The written examination takes two hours and covers networking concepts and some
equipment commands. Only by passing this hurdle will you be able to take the Security Lab examination.
So what can one expect from the CCIE Security lab examination? The Security lab examination is an eight-hour lab
exam test that will measure your expertise in getting a secure network up and running in a very tightly timed test
situation. Simply put, passing the lab examination is no easy feat. You need an in-depth knowledge of the workings
behind Cisco’s Security line-up and from there, create the network. Because of the difficulty of the CCIE Security
lab examination, there are many companies in the market that offer courses and mock lab examinations that try to
replicate the exams given by Cisco. You need to pass the lab examination within 3 years after passing the written
examination in order to be certified. The first lab attempt must be performed within 18 months after passing the
written exam.
What happens when you pass the Security lab examination? It only means that you will now be truly certified. By
passing both the written and the CCIE Security lab examination, you will now receive the full certification from
Cisco. Being certified beefs up your resume, giving you more chances to bag the job you’ve always wanted in the IT
industry.
